Manor Gardens has been looking after women’s health since 1913. Through their Tackling FGM Project they aim to protect women and children’s rights by reducing the risk to girls undergoing genital mutilation in all its forms.
Dahlia project
The Dahlia Project is the only specialist counselling service in Europe for women who have undergone Female Genital Mutilation, run by the Health Advocacy Service at Manor Gardens.

National FGM Centre
The National FGM Centre is a partnership between Barnardo’s and the Local Government Association (LGA). It was established in 2015 to achieve a systems change in the provision of services for children and their families who are affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and support professionals working on cases. In 2017, the focus of our work was extended to include Breast Ironing/Flattening and Child Abuse Linked to Faith or Belief.

FORWARD (Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development) aims to transform lives, tackle discriminatory practices that affect the dignity and wellbeing of girls and women. Their focus is on female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage and obstetric fistula.
African Advocacy Foundation
Africa Advocacy Foundation (AAF) is a registered charity founded in 1996. AAF works with communities both in the UK and overseas who are affected by a range of issues including sexual and reproductive health, violence against women and girls, female genital mutilation (FGM) and mental health issues.
The Orchid Project
The Orchid Project Advocate to ensure stakeholders resource and prioritise an end to FGC, communicate the potential to end FGC within a generation and raise awareness about how, why and where FGC happens and partner with organisations that deliver a sustainable, proven end to FGC.
AFRUCA
AFRUCA (Africans Unite Against Child Abuse) is a UK charity, established in 2001 as by Modupe Debbie Ariyo OBE, as a platform for advocating for the rights and welfare of African Children. AFRUCA was set up in response to the deaths of African children in the UK such as Damilola Taylor, Jude Akapa, and Victoria Climbie who suffered abuse. AFRUCA works both nationally across the UK from two bases in London and Manchester, and internationally in partnership with agencies across Europe and in Africa. AFRUCA also rely heavily upon The 1989 United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child to form the basis of their work. The organisation’s stance is that culture and religion should not be a reason to abuse children.
Kurdish and Middle Eastern Women’s Rights Organisation
KMEWO aims to: Promote Kurdish and Middle Eastern women’s human rights and quality of life, help women recover from distress and suffering from past and present experiences of domestic abuse and honour-based violence. The organisation also advocate for women’s rights and to increase women’s opportunities for better education, employment and participation in wider British society.
They work with women suffering or at risk of domestic violence, forced marriage and honour based violence and FGM.
Midaye Somali Development Network
Midaye is a charitable organisation based in west London that was established to address the needs of the local community. Midaye has been awarded a grant from the Department for Education to expand its work protecting women and girls from FGM in the UK.

Women’s Health and Family Services (WHFS) is a multi-cultural community health charity located in Tower Hamlets with over 30 years of experience working with the most disadvantaged, marginalised and vulnerable women in East London communities. WHFS’s work in FGM includes, but is not limited to, community-based prevention work in tackling FGM; working closely with Barts Health where we provided practical, emotional and advocacy support for women who have experienced FGM in accessing treatment & a range of other life changing support services, including counselling.

Nestac-
SOS aims to support women (aged 21 and over), as well as their families, to respond and deal with psychosocial issues related to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the North-West of England.
Working in partnership with statutory and non-statutory agencies to better respond to FGM-related issues.
Working directly with FGM practicing communities living in Greater Manchester and across the North-West of England to raise awareness on the effects of FGM and to empower girls and women in becoming advocates who combat FGM.
Partnership with educational institutions, with an academic research element involving local universities in investigating psychological effects of FGM and on the best response for an appropriate culturally adapted therapeutic support.

Savera UK works with Black Minority Ethnic communities to challenge attitudes towards domestic abuse and harmful practices such as forced marriage, ‘honour’ based violence and female genital mutilation. Based in Liverpool.
Granby Somali Women’s Group
Granby Somali Women’s Group has also received three-year funding for a project which will reduce the risk to girls and young women in the UK of undergoing genital mutilation in all its form. The project targets young women, families, parents, professionals, local schools, religious leaders, and community leaders, to change and challenge notions of FGM. The project will reach beneficiaries via holding group sessions, workshops, awareness consultations, open days, yearly events, and advisor group sessions

Celestinecelest Community Organisation
The aim of Celestinecelest in Coventry is to raise awareness of female genital mutilation. Locally, nationally and internationally they are a vocal prosecutor for FGM. Celestinecelest has devoted its time, energy and resources towards advocating for people who have been misused, abused and politically under-represented. We work with women, children and families who have been affected by female genital mutilation and those who are at the risk of genital circumcision.

Bolton Solidarity Community Association
BSCA developed an FGM project in February 2010 to initially support women and men from communities affected by FGM in Bolton. Project aims is to tackle the taboos and cultural myths that surround FGM as well as giving the survivors the confidence and opportunity to share their own stories in a safe environment. It also hopes to minimise the risks to girls by educating the community.

Community InfoSource is a not-for-profit, Community Interest Company formed in Scotland in 2006. We are run by refugees or people from a refugee background and work for marginalised people including survivors of abuse, persecution, torture and trafficking. We assist them to overcome barriers they face to integration and employment and we help them to put their own ideas into action. Human Rights issues are of importance to us. At the Violence against Women Project we work in partnership with men from communities potentially affected by Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Scotland to raise awareness and prevent the practice of FGM. We are the first organisation working on FGM with men in Scotland
