Violence against Women & Girls in the Carer’s Context

Date: Thursday 23rd November 2023                   Time: 10:00am- 15:30pm

The NHS England London Safeguarding Team are hosting a conference on Thursday 23rd November to coincide with the national Carers’ Right Day, and mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on the 25th November.

The issue of carers as potential victims and/ or perpetrators of domestic abuse is often unrecognised and is increasingly featured in domestic homicide reviews.

This conference will shine a light on violence against women and girls in the carer’s context, provide examples of initiatives set up to recognise carers and their rights, as well as examples of support services available to carers within London.

Aim of the conference: To equip professionals at all levels with tips on how to improve their practice and strategies regarding violence against women and girls in the carer’s context.

Objectives:

  • To raise awareness about violence against women and girls in the carer’s context
  • To improve identification of carers, particularly in the VAWG / domestic abuse context
  • Encourage professional curiosity regarding VAWG in the carer’s context
  • Increase knowledge regarding support services and referral processes within London

Please register here by Monday 20th November 2023.
